A Danish/South African chocolatier with a Science degree in Environmental Management and Technology, Justine started her career in 2006 by founding Nunu Chocolates with her husband Andy. They developed the brand on their home turf of Brooklyn, selling at the Brooklyn flea, local stores, the Union Square Holiday Market and eventually expanded to their own shops.

The artisanal bon bons, small batch chocolate bars, and particularly the Hand Dipped Salt Caramels increasingly garnered attention and demand.

Awards followed, such as “Top Ten Chocolates” in New York Magazine, “Best Chocolates in America” by Bon Appéit, and “Top 10 Chocolatiers in North America” by Dessert Professional Magazine. In early 2020, she was featured on Chopped Sweets, a spinoff of the Food Network’s hit show Chopped, where she competed against a roster of sugar-savvy pastry chefs from across the US. Justine continues to explore and expand her love of chocolate by developing new product lines and working with similarly minded brands.

Chocolate is not just a passion, it’s a lifestyle.
